Garden Soil Volume Calculator
Calculate raw bed volume, extra purchase volume, cubic yards, liters, and whole bags without hiding rounding.
How the estimate works
Raw volume = length × width × depth × bed count.
Purchase volume adds the selected extra percentage; bags round up.
Worked example
One 8-by-4-foot bed filled 12 inches deep holds 32 cubic feet raw. With 10% extra, the purchase volume is 35.2 cubic feet, or 18 two-cubic-foot bags.
Assumptions
- Dimensions describe a rectangular filled volume.
Limitations
- Settling, compaction, irregular shapes, and existing soil change real purchase needs.
