Practical takeaway
Copy the packet values for depth, final spacing, germination, and days to maturity before calculating. Check whether maturity is counted from sowing or transplanting and whether the listed spacing is for plants, rows, or hills.
The seed quantity calculator returns individual seed quantities. It does not assume one universal packet size. Packet count, weight, seed treatment, germination test date, lot, and variety remain product-specific.
Read the language around the number
“Days to maturity” is a comparative planning value, not a harvest appointment. “Full sun” does not describe heat tolerance. Regional calendar wording may need conversion to a local freeze-relative plan.
Limits
Packets cannot see current soil, weather, pest pressure, or the garden’s microclimate. Save the packet so the lot and variety remain tied to observations.
